Donington Park circuit Britain

Set in beautiful countryside near the village of Castle Donington in the English Midlands, the circuit is set in a natural amphitheatre affording great views from all around. Donington Park is a track of two halves. One section is slow and less interesting for the riders and spectators alike, the other is faster and more flowing. Its fluid layout is broken up by a slow second half with tight corners. The 2.5 mile track is made up of four left-hand bends, seven right-handers, two hairpins and a set of S-curves. The longest straight is only 512 yards and the track width only nine yards. Food is available from mobile stands located around the track.

In 2006, Dani Pedrosa swept to an impressive race win on his Repsol Honda, which had looked to be on the cards for the whole weekend. He took the full set of pole, fastest lap and race win, the second win of his rookie MotoGP season. But while Pedrosa was the race victor, Valentino Rossi remains the undisputed 'King of Donington' after a scintillating demonstration of courage and skill in which he produced one of the performances of his life, finishing 2nd ahead of Marco Melandri despite starting 12th on the grid.

The circuit is at the heart of the English Midlands, at the hub of the motorway network and adjacent to M1/A42 junction 23A and M1/A50 junction 24A. The nearest cities are Derby, Nottingham and Leicester, all within 20 miles. Barton Buses operate their Rainbow 5 Service between Nottingham and Donington Park. This service will take you to Castle Donington home of Donington Park. You can catch the Rainbow 5 from Nottingham's Broadmarsh Bus Station, Beeston Bus Station or Long Eaton. It's generally an hourly service to Castle Donington. East Midlands Airport, with a growing number of scheduled flights is nearby the circuit.
